Dr. JC Hines (1939-2023) desired to become a veterinarian at an early age. When he was 14-years-old, he only needed one more merit badge before he could become an Eagle Scout. He chose first aid to animals and spent some time with a newly graduated veterinarian from the University of Georgia who taught him. That led to a lifetime career spanning over 50 years of practicing veterinary medicine. Doc graduated from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1966 and has always been a proud supporter of UGA! He helped countless aspiring veterinarians on their educational and career paths. Doc was generous, funny, kind and loved by all. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him, but the hope is that his legacy in veterinary medicine as a whole and at the University of Georgia will continue for years to come.
