John Spencer memorial gifts honor John Spencer, an MS student in Ecology who was loved for his humor, generosity, enthusiasm and kindness. After earning a degree in Environmental Studies at Washington and Lee, John studied urban streams with faculty advisors Seth Wenger and Amy Rosemond at the Odum School of Ecology. He was passionate about the outdoors and conserving, protecting and restoring our natural systems.

John's family and friends have generously established multiple John Spencer Fellowships and Research Grants. Three students per year are currently supported with competitive fellowships and three to five more are supported with research grants every year, jump starting conservation efforts and training the next generation of environmental leaders.
