As a student in the UGA College of Education, Amy Lee embodied passion, caring, and selflessness. Her
plan as a special education major was to enrich the lives of others through education and therapy. Those
she met in her time in the College—whether as a Student Ambassador, as a counselor for the local
nonprofit Extra Special People, or through volunteer work with the UGA Wesley Foundation and Clarke
County Mentor Program—saw firsthand that her passion extended far beyond a classroom.
Amy's death in August of 2018 shook the College of Education community. But our staff, faculty, and
students, particularly her fellow Student Ambassadors, wanted to honor her energy and passion.
Dedicating the Student Ambassador Scholarship Fund in memory of Amy was a way to recall her generous and
loving spirit while also commemorating her love of serving as a Student Ambassador.
"Amy radiated love for the College of Education and every single person in it. She embraced every new
person she ever met and exemplified the ideals of a Student Ambassador," said Sarah Williamson, a fellow
Student Ambassador. "She was a strong leader and always went out of her way to make others feel
welcomed. She always had a smile on her face and loved the College with her whole heart".
