Jack Scroggs and Gracie

Jack was born in Clarkesville Georgia on August 14, 1946 and raised in Cornelia, Georgia.

Known to those in his hometown as Jackie Scroggs, he was always eager to learn and grew up reading from his prized set of encyclopedias. Jack earned a degree in journalism at the University of Georgia where he met his wife and best friend of 54 years, Connie Callaway, on a blind date. After graduating he went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army at Fort Belvoir.

Being a man of many talents Jack mastered many areas of expertise throughout his careers. He was a longtime broadcaster with WSB radio in Atlanta then went on to create “Dixie Mobile Home Supply”, a successful heating and air conditioning business which served the Athens community for 40 years. He served as a longtime board member of the Conditioned Air Association of Georgia (CAAG). He was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church in Athens, GA where he often taught Sunday bible school. Jack loved his family, his dogs, saltwater fishing on Jekyll Island, the game of golf and listening to the golden oldies. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. His life was a blessing to us all.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Irene Scroggs and his sister, Kaye Scroggs. He is survived by his beloved wife Connie Callaway Scroggs, his daughter Laura Scroggs Gisler and his grandchildren Ella and Callaway Gisler.

A celebration of Jacks life will be announced at a later date.
