Two In Three People Have "Ghosted" Someone They Were Dating

According to a study from the University of Georgia, 2 in 3 people have ghosted someone they were dating and have been ghosted themselves. Ghosting is when someone ignores a partner or friend in order to end the relationship without having to have an awkward conversation. Those being ghosted find breakups to be a negative experience and this feeling is worse for people who “yearn for closure”. Interestingly, those with a high need for closure were more likely to end a relationship by ghosting a person than people with a lower need for closure. Over half of the study participants also reported a time when they were ghosted by a friend. Most people who have been ghosted by a friend said it felt just as bad as being ghosted by a romantic partner.
